Hi I’m Edgar and traveling the world on-off for the past 5 years
My first bigger journey was in Australia, where I saved up enough money to travel South East Asia. And how some of you maybe have heard or experienced, going back is never an option. This journey really has transformed me as it showed me how rich the world is with all it’s variations in culture, people, environment and so much more.
The feeling of discovering these boundless limits of the world is really what pushes international travelers ahead and gives them a very different perspective on the world. For me at last, it was clear that I couldn’t stay home, or even in “Europe”. I had to see the rest of the party.
What I have been doing to finance these journey was mostly based on teaching languages. I am very fortunate that I have been able to teach German, which is always high in demand- and English, where jobs are available all over the world.
I originally studied Politics and Economics, but completed a one month seminar in Prague to teach English. My first job was offered right after in Qingdao, China. Where I almost spent a whole year. After that I went to South Korea, where I also started to teach German.
A year and some jobs in Germany later I started to work in the Philippines which has always been looking for teachers since there is a wave of education for nurses that relocate in Germany.
Philippines was then my winter refuge for mainly three reasons: Visa was easy to obtain, English is almost everywhere spoken on a higher level, so communication was rarely much of an issue, and the people are very, very friendly. And of course other reasons (job availability, prices, etc.)
